BUDAHOME "UNEQUA" AFRICAN RELIEF PROJECT

"Educating Young Girls Through The Power Of Hospitality"

WHAT WE DO

From January 1st, 2017 we donate 10% of every booking at BudaHome Apartments to the UNEQUA charity project in Cameroon, Central Africa. As of December 31st, 2020 we donated a total of €4.000 in support of this initiative that benefited a local orphanage, an elementary school and allowed 4 girls to graduate.

HOW WE DO IT

The project is overseen directly onsite by our longtime friends Giada Gattobigio and Diderot Nemaleu Siewe. They’re an Italian-Cameroonian couple heavily involved in helping their local community. Thanks to their invaluable support we have the guarantee that your money is used wisely and where it’s really needed.

WHY CAMEROON?

We chose Cameroon because we knew that with Giada and Diderot’s help we could really accomplish our goal. There have been way to many instances of charity donations made to large organizations that ended up in the wrong hands. We want our contribution (which was made possible thanks to our guests) to really help people.

WHAT WE DID IN 2017

“La Casa di Angela” is an orphanage for children under the age of 6. It’s located on the outskirts of Yaoundé on a land with contaminated water. Therefore the children and their caretaker (Italian Volunteer Sister Angela) were in dire need of purchasing a water filter pump. Thanks to the donation made by BudaHome Apartments the children now have clean water to drink and bathe.

WHAT WE DID IN 2018

“Educating African Girls Through The Power Of Hospitality”.

That’s our mission for 2018 and beyond.

In Africa over 150 million girls are denied the basic human right to education. They must marry by age 13 and do harsh physical labor in their villages instead.

A study of the U.S. Department of Labor shows that more than half of the children between the age of 5 and 14 are forced to work.

WE WANT TO CHANGE THIS!

We want to give a small but significant number of girls the chance to study and become skilled professionals who enrich their local communities. We'll be at their side paying for tuition fees, uniforms, school supplies and whatever else their families can't afford.

We believe big changes CAN be brought on by small initiatives and that educating these girls will create a positive ripple effect for their communities and eventually their country.

We've named our project UNEQUA. That's the combination of the words UNIQUE and EQUAL. Unique because each person is one-of-a-kind and equal because everyone deserves equal rights, no matter where they're born.

For this reason, we are extremely grateful to each and every person that has stayed or will stay at BudaHome Apartments. WE COULDN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!

UPDATE 2019 -2021

We're overjoyed to report that our UNEQUA project is well underway. For the 2nd year in a row we're supporting the Lyceé Classique de Bafang and the Bafang Elemntary School in the in the Haut-Nkam division of the West province of Cameroon.

In 2019 the first students we sponsored graduated with flying colors.

Now Sandrine Laure,Omela and Epiphanie will have a chance to build a better life for themselves and escape force marriages and slave labor.
